Remove the tartar that the toothbrush no longer removes. How often you need it depends on your risk, not the calendar.
Decay is removed and the tooth is restored with enamel-coloured composite, using local anaesthesia.
When decay reaches the nerve: the canal is cleaned and the tooth is saved instead of being extracted.
When a tooth can no longer be saved. We explain why — and what options there are for the gap left behind.
Not all of them need to be removed. We use an X-ray to evaluate if yours is causing problems or just sitting there.
Bleeding, receding gums or loose teeth. Periodontitis cannot be cured, but it can be controlled — and the sooner, the better.
Panoramic X-ray, 3D CT scan, and periapical X-rays in the clinic itself — with the published dose chart and one rule: only when justified.
A titanium root that replaces the missing one. It requires sufficient bone and healthy gums — we check this beforehand.
A fixed arch on four implants, for mouths with many missing teeth. It is not for every case, and we say so.
The crown that protects a heavily damaged or root-canaled tooth — with the conservative ladder explained before preparation.
Replacing a tooth by relying on the adjacent ones. It involves shaving them down: we tell you when it is worth it and when it is not.
Complete and partial removable dentures, with truly tailored fitting. We also adjust dentures made elsewhere.
Clarify the natural tooth shade. It does not change fillings, crowns, or veneers — that is planned beforehand.
Thin laminates on the visible face of the tooth. They change shape and colour; they often require shaving down some enamel, and we'll tell you all about it.
Composite without cutting the tooth: chipped edges, gaps, and broken teeth. Includes a guide on what to do in the first hour after a blow.
Lips and perioral area treated with a dental approach. It is absorbable, it can be dissolved — and we’ll tell you exactly how far we go.
Clear aligners that are removed for eating. They are worn 20–22 hours a day — the result depends on that.
3D-printed shape-memory aligners that allow movement to be planned differently. Case by case.
Dr. Lissett Rodríguez (License No. 38001202), a member of the AAO: who plans and oversees your treatment, and how she works.
The first visit at one year of age or with the first tooth, and check-ups that teach more than they frighten.
Six real reasons people walk through our door — and where each one leads.
It is completely fine and we are not going to scold you: it is the most common reason for consultation that exists. One Complete review it resets the counter to zero and tells you exactly where you are.
Bleeding is never normal — not even "from brushing hard". It's your gums' first warning, and the sooner you look into it, the simpler the solution. We tell you all about it in Periodontics.
Cold that bothers, a sharp pain when chewing, a pain that comes and goes: each pattern points to a different cause — from a filling to a root canal. Diagnosis first, treatment second.
Keep the fragment in milk and call us: sometimes it can be glued back on. Depending on what is left of the tooth: bonding, reconstruction, or crown — and the first-hour guide is on the bonding page.
Neighbours lean in and the bone reabsorbs — the sooner you plan, the more options you have. The three routes: implant, bridge or prosthesis, compared with honesty on every page.
It is not your fault: the bone changes underneath and the base falls behind. It gets adjusted, relined, or — when the time comes — replaced. Even if it was made in another country: we tell it here.
An exam isn’t just "looking in the mouth". It is five different examinations, and at the end, a written plan.
Cavities, fissures, wear, fractures, and the condition of your current fillings and crowns. Today's small issue is today's cheap fix — that's half the value of getting a check-up.
A basic periodontal screening: healthy gums probe 3 mm or less. If anything indicates more, a complete study — the periodontal chart — is done before discussing treatments.
Tongue, floor of the mouth, palate, cheeks, and lips. The part of the check-up that almost no one mentions and which has its own section below — read it.
How your teeth fit together, signs of bruxism (wear, cracks, jaw discomfort), and if anything is shifting out of place.
We follow the principle of minimum necessary radiation: x-rays are taken when the examination indicates it, not as a routine. And every x-ray is read completely: cavities and bone.
What we have found and in what order we should fix it: what is urgent, what can wait, and what is optional — with a written quotation before starting anything.
The part that almost nobody mentions
There is a part of the check-up that almost no clinic mentions on its website and that we think is one of the most important: carefully examining the soft tissues — tongue, floor of the mouth, palate, cheeks, lips. We look for white or red spots that weren't there before, lumps, and sores that have been more than two weeks without closing.
The reason, based on data from the General Council of Dentists: thousands of oral cavity tumors are diagnosed in Spain every year — sector forecasts for 2026 exceed 8,000 cases — and only one in every three to one in every four is detected in early stages. Detected early, the prognosis improves greatly. That is the point of the minute we spend looking: we do not diagnose— we observe and, if something deserves follow-up, we let you know and refer you To whom it may concern, with report.
And the golden rule for home, valid for any age and doubly so from 40 onwards: A sore or spot that does not heal in two weeks should be shown to the dentist. Almost always it is nothing. Looking at it is the way to be sure.
"Every six months" is an average, not a rule. The sensible interval depends on your risk: if you smoke, if you are undergoing gum treatment, if you get cavities easily, or if you have dentures and implants, it will be needed more often; if you have been stable for years, your check-up can be spaced out towards a year. We explain the complete logic behind the interval based on risk in the dental cleaning page, with the evidence behind it.
Your first visit Here, there's no rush and no obligation: you tell us what brings you in and what you're worried about—and if you're afraid of the dentist, you can say it out loud; it's much easier to work when we know. Afterwards, the complete five-point check-up, X-rays only if necessary, and an explanation of what's going on with the images right in front of you, in plain language.
And the house rule with money: nothing starts without you knowing what it costs and why. Written quotation with prioritized items, and flexible financing if you need it — detailed terms in writing at the clinic. Comparing quotations is legitimate: take ours wherever you want.
We are Clínica Dental Los Cristianos, at Calle Barranquillo 2, Suite 4—just a few minutes’ walk from downtown and the beach. Here, general dentistry acts as your mouth’s primary care provider: check-ups, cleanings, timely fillings—and coordinating everything else, from orthodontics to implants, so that each treatment is performed in the correct order.
That has a specific advantage that is not always appreciated until it is missing: the same team sees you, and your medical record doesn't start over every visit. Your previous X-rays are available to compare with today's, and the person who placed your filling three years ago is the one checking how it's doing. It sounds obvious. It isn't always.
And since Los Cristianos is the way it is, we'll just come right out and say it: we're available at Spanish and English. It's not just a brochure tagline — it means that your diagnosis, consent, and treatment quotation are explained to you in the language you think in. If you are on vacation and need a specific treatment, we also provide a written report so your dentist back home knows exactly what was done.
There are things that are not done at this clinic, and we prefer to tell you rather than improvise: orthognathic surgery (the kind that repositions the jawbones), biopsies and complex oral pathology, and some surgical cases that require hospital facilities. When your case requires it, we are referring you — with the report and X-rays done, so you don't have to start from scratch in another query.
We are sharing this because we believe it is exactly what you would want to know before choosing a clinic: being told that "everything is done here" is not always good news. Knowing when to treat and when to refer is part of the job—the part that doesn't make it into the brochures.
Uncertain if your case is one of ours? The quickest answer is the first visit: we examine you, clearly tell you what you need, and if it's here, we start—and if it isn't, you leave with a clear roadmap.
Frequently asked questions
Five examinations: teeth one by one, gums with a probe, soft tissues (tongue, palate, cheeks), the bite, and x-rays only when indicated. At the end, we explain what we find and give you the plan with a written quotation.
It depends on your risk, not the calendar: between six and twelve months for most. Smoking, gums under treatment, a tendency to cavities, or dentures and implants shorten the interval; years of stability lengthen it. We will suggest yours with reasons.
No. We follow the principle of minimum necessary radiation: we take X-rays when the examination indicates it — suspicion of decay between teeth, bone check, a painful tooth — not routinely.
If you have acute pain, inflammation, or a broken tooth, call us or message us on WhatsApp at +34 654 58 55 53: we organise our schedule to see acute cases as soon as possible, within our operating hours. Tell us what is wrong and we will let you know when we can see you.
In Spanish and English, the diagnosis, consent, and cost quotation are explained in your language, and if you are just passing through, we will give you a written report for your home dentist.
Always, and in writing: what needs to be done, why, in what order, and how much each thing costs — separating the urgent from what can wait and what is optional. Nothing is started without you seeing and approving it.
At Calle Barranquillo 2, Suite 4, 38650 Los Cristianos (Arona)—just a few minutes’ walk from downtown and the beach. Keep an eye out when looking for us: there are other clinics in the area with similar names; ours is the one at Calle Barranquillo, next to the map below.
Start with your need
Tell us what concerns you. The examination determines the cause and allows comparing options before recommending a solution.
Before starting
We do not start by proposing a treatment. First, we check what is happening and which alternatives fit you.
We check teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues, in addition to what is concerning you.
We use X-rays or 3D scans only when indicated to clarify the diagnosis.
We explain the options, the order, the estimated times, and the cost before you decide.
